Protect Yourself: Understanding The Legal Side of Today’s Digital World
Today, almost everything you build, share or sell involves content, collaborations and online visibility, which means that understanding the legal rules, rights and responsibilities behind these is no longer optional.
It’s not just legal theory; it’s about protecting budgets, content, campaigns and reputation.
This is going to be a deep-dive session on how to maximise strategies, campaigns and collaborations by undertsanding the rules (platform rules vs the law, risk assessment, sanctions), recognising the importance of Intellectual Property (brand protection, content usage rights, the use of memes, music and AI) as well as the importance of clear and strong Contracts (collaboration agreements, licensing & IP rights assignments, exclusivity, essential clauses).
The goal of this session is to share knowledge on the legal side of today’s digital world (with a main focus on the importance of Intellectual Property, Contracts and the “Social Media” laws), so that creators, businesses and agencies can maximise their campaigns and budgets in a smart and safe way.

Redefining Long-Term Creator Relationships In The Fight Against ‘Authenticity’
Each year, ITV brings together forward thinking and culturally relevant content creators that have become an extension and integral part of the ITV brand. For a while now the way that broadcasters work with creators has been changing, but this session will explore how this relationship has changed and the opportunities that avail for creators today when working with major channels.
We will also look at how, as ‘authenticity’ becomes contested, there is ongoing need for a creator-centric approach in this increasingly metric-driven industry. After all, the way to fight back against content that is perfectly preened to appear authentic is NOT bland, AI-driven posts.

From Memes To Big Dreams: Hunsnet Founder On Creating A Joyous Brand From Humble Beginnings
Hunsnet started as a meme account on Instagram, but it fast became a huge online community space for everyone who dares to identify as a Hun. Founded in 2017, Gareth Howells started his page to celebrate Hun culture, which he defines as always positive and funny but never cruel, celebrating British pop culture and humour, memes gently ribbing the celebrity scene of the Nineties and Noughties, and slightly silly but always fabulous nostalgia.
Since founding Hunsnet, Gareth has launched two different podcasts, written a book and launched a line of merch, partnering with iconic brands that want to align with all things ‘Hun’, all while continuing to grow his following. With Hunsnet turning 10 next year, this session will discover how Gareth has built up such an iconic brand, keeping it going through different cultural shifts, and learning from any mistakes along the way.
